Theme and deadline

What will we be expecting?

The theme is: Imagine this; you're home, you're bored, your cable is off and Elftown isn't working! How do you possibly entertain yourself? Well don't look at me, I don't have the answer! That's why I'm asking you! This contest is to see all the fun filled and entertaining games we can come up with.

1. NO STEALING LITERATURE. The game MUST be written by you. If anyone is found to be stealing someone else's work they will be disqualified from this and all future official written contests. The piece that you enter can be old, but it must not have been submitted previously in an different official contest. If your work has been submitted into a non-official contest, then you may still enter it here.

2. No renamed games that have already been created, please. We accept that you may be inspired from somewhere, but if you make a game called ‘Julies Hopscotch’, it's not going to cut it with us. Original work here please.

3. [LENGTH:]

-If you're submitting a prose entry, the story must be no less than 500 words and no more than 3000.

4. No pornography or excessive violence please. Use your common sense as to what would be acceptable and what not, but the crew's decision in this matter is final.

5. - You may submit one game to this contest.

6. - Quality restrictions. If you want us to put effort into reading the game, put effort into writing it. Games with exceptionally bad spelling and/or grammar will be disqualified. If your game isn't going to make the cut, we'll put a comment underneath the entry saying so.

7. If you wish to discuss something about how the contest is run, or the rules, then please use the official contest forum: <forum:Elftown contests>!

CONTEST WILL RUN FROM: 05/01/09 - 09/01/09?

This contest is officially CLOSED

Note: Two games will be picked out by the Council and Assembly among all those presented.

Please Note: Asking people to vote for you is against the rules. Although you may advertise the Main Street Poll in your mood, diary, or house, it is against Elftown Official Competition rules to directly ask people to vote for you or influence people to vote for you through use of public wikis, diary entries, messages, in your mood, etc.

Participants will receive builders badges

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: sounds pretty neat.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Thanks!

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: If you want it to be an official competition, put it in contest format. You can use one of the contest wikis on elftown future competitions and that way the Crew can start discussing the rules and that sort of thing. Once it's finalized and the Crew agrees on how it should be worded and how it looks and all of that, you can place it in elftown future competitions...^^ Hope that rambling helped.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Ok cool! Will do! Whoa, what section would it be considered as? Text, Crafts or what?

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: Hmm...I guess you could make a special category for it. Maybe Specialty Themes or something like that.

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: I asked Silv about that since the template page is hers. Sounds like a good idea, I think we need more specialty contests anyway, a bit of a change of pace!

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: You don't have to ask...it's there for the Crew to use. ^^

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Ok. I will put some thought into it and see what I can come up with ^^

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: Since it is a different type of contest, go through the templates and decide which one suits your needs the best. Once you have it, just use it. If anything needs changing, it can be fixed later.

Heck, once it's all sorted out, you could even add your own template for Specialty Competitions Template if it gets rejected then, it will still be good practice right? ^^

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: That is true and I do need the practice ! My brain hurts though so I will finish it tommorow! Thank you for your help! If I have any questions, I will definatly ask, if that's alright.

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: Ask away hon!! If I don't know the answer, I will scrounge up someone who can!!

2009-04-10 [Linderel]: First off, ditch the dividers you're using now and replace them with the greenh ones. Take away the <center>-tag from most of the page. Make a separate wiki for entries. You can apply any of the contest templates without religiously following it; just make sure all the necessary information is there in some way.

Proofread the page. Also, perhaps you might want to make the rating limit PG-13 or PG-15?

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: I'm working on it ^^ Thank you though! ! !

2009-04-10 [Lothuriel]: Can't wait to see!! ^^

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: ! Thanks!

2009-04-10 [Alexi Ice]: Does it look better?
